It began in 1984 with an organized offroad tour accompanying the famous but now defunct point-to-point Barstow to
Las Vegas offroad race. The organizer who came up with the concept of adding a noncompetitive ride for the more tame enthusiast to the annual desert race that took place over Thanksgiving weekend. The course was expanded in 1987 adding Los Angeles to the start and a second day for more of an adventure. Attendance has grown through the years attracting up to 400 participants annually. Motorcycle manufacturers recognized this growth and responded with more dirt oriented and street legal offroad machines. |
